💡 Panaji → Old Goa → Ponda follows the highway in a clean straight line east. No backtracking. Return from Ponda to Morjim is a direct 30-min drive north.

Booking on Calangute main road
800m from beach, noisy, ₹400/day on autos. Pay ₹300 more and stay near the beach.
Water sports at 10am
Tour buses arrive at 10am. Go at 3pm — operators drop prices 30–40% to fill last slots.
Renting a car instead of a scooter
Goa roads are narrow, parking is awful. Scooter = faster, cheaper, how locals navigate.
Every meal at beach shacks
Beach shacks are 60–80% more expensive than dhabas 200m off the beach. Fish thali: ₹450 vs ₹160.
Skipping Old Goa
